What’s wrong with a stuffy nose during pregnancy?

Nasal congestion during pregnancy is mostly caused by rhinitis during pregnancy. The hormone level of a woman’s body will change after pregnancy, which can cause edema of the nasal mucosa, vasodilatation, and increase of glandular secretions, manifesting as nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny nose, and seriously affecting respiratory function. Most of the time, the hormone level of the body will return to normal after the birth, and the disease will be cured naturally after the causative factors are eliminated. However, there are a few patients who cannot return to normal levels because of abnormalities in their nasal anatomy or because they are atopic, i.e. allergic. During the pre-pregnancy check-up, attention should be paid to exclude hidden nasal sinus disorders and treat them in a timely manner. If nasal congestion occurs after pregnancy, you can use saline to flush the nasal cavity and use nasal sprays under the guidance of a doctor to treat it.
