Which birthmarks disappear in newborns

Birthmarks are tissues that babies are born with on their skin that are different in shape and color from normal skin. You may be a little worried about which birthmarks will disappear quickly? Which ones will stay with your baby for the rest of his/her life? Among the common types of birthmarks that can disappear are erythema neonatorum and Mongolian spots. Erythema neonatorum is a pink or red patch located between the eyes, on the forehead, or on the back of the neck. They are caused by dilated blood vessels that give the skin a reddish color, and most of these patches disappear within two years. Mongolian spots are gray or blue patches of skin that look like a bruise. They are common in Asian children and usually appear on a baby’s buttocks, and they usually disappear by age two. There is also a type of hemangioma in infants and young children, also called a “strawberry hemangioma”, which is usually not present at birth or is just a red spot on the skin. After a few weeks, the spot starts to get bigger and bigger, and can grow for a few weeks before it stabilizes and then shrinks and disappears, which can take many years to disappear completely. Most hemangiomas do not require treatment, but if they appear in specific areas, such as the face (especially around the eyes or lips) or genital area, they can cause disfigurement or interfere with bodily functions, in which case it is important to consider seeking medical attention.
