Patients can use topical retinoids (e.g., adapalene gel, etc.) and benzoyl peroxide gel under the guidance of a doctor, or take oral retinoids (e.g., isotretinoin capsules, etc.), estrogen-progestogen combination (e.g., a combination of cyclopropylprogesterone and ethinyl estradiol, etc.), or glucocorticosteroids (e.g., prednisone, etc.), etc., to improve the symptoms as prescribed. Acne may also be improved with red and blue light irradiation, photodynamic therapy, and fruit acid peeling as prescribed by the doctor.
