Does the swelling go down when the fluid is drained from a meniscus injury in the knee?

Whether the swelling of the knee meniscus injury can be reduced by drawing out the fluid depends on the patient’s own situation, if the meniscus injury is more serious and the prognosis is worse, the swelling can not be reduced or the swelling is slow.
1. Meniscus injury will induce synovitis in the knee joint, and synovitis will lead to synovial hyperplasia and exudate fluid causing joint swelling. So extracting the fluid can better help reduce the swelling.
2. If the patient’s meniscus injury is more serious, and the patient still has more activities or does not pay attention to the protection of knee joint after drawing out the effusion, the inflammation will still be there, and the effusion will continue to proliferate, so the swelling can not be reduced or the swelling will be reduced slowly; if the patient’s meniscus injury is less serious and has a good prognosis, then the swelling may be reduced.
If the patient has a mild meniscus injury and has a good prognosis, then the swelling may go down. Whether or not the swelling can go down after the fluid is extracted from the knee meniscus injury varies from person to person.
