What happens when you get off the floor too soon after open surgery for a herniated disc?

Getting off the floor too soon after open lumbar herniated disc surgery may result in such hazards as aggravated pain, vertebral body slippage, and recurrence.
1. Aggravation of pain: after open surgery for lumbar disc herniation, if you go down to the ground too soon, you may damage the soft tissues at the surgical site, which may aggravate the pain in the lumbar spine.
2. Slipped vertebra: open surgery for lumbar disc herniation may lead to local or even systemic infection or loss of vertebral plate. Too much removal of vertebral plate will lead to spinal instability, and if you go down to the ground too soon, you may experience vertebral slippage.
3. Recurrence: Getting off the ground too soon after the open surgery for lumbar disc herniation may cause recurrence of the herniated disc, and may even lead to herniation of discs in other segments.
