Interventional Therapy Knowledge Talk

With the development of medicine, most of the provincial and prefectural hospitals and some county hospitals are now carrying out the diagnosis and treatment of interventional radiology, and many hospitals are carrying out well, providing patients with a lot of simple, safe and effective means of diagnosis and treatment, which has strongly promoted the development of medicine, but because of the late start of interventional radiology in China, so far it is only 20 to 30 years; many patients, including some doctors, do not know what interventional therapy is, what diseases can be treated by interventional therapy, under what circumstances can interventional therapy be carried out, what are the advantages of interventional therapy different from general treatment. Many patients, including some doctors, do not know what interventional therapy is, what diseases can be treated with interventional therapy, under what circumstances interventional therapy can be implemented, what are the advantages of interventional therapy that are different from general treatment, many people know that they go to hospitals to see internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics, etc., but they do not know that there is an interventional radiology department in the hospital, and they do not know when to see the interventional department. Let’s talk about this topic briefly. Simply speaking, interventional therapy is a technique that uses special interventional devices such as puncture needles, guidewires, catheters, balloons and stents under the guidance or monitoring of medical imaging equipment, such as X-ray machines, CT and ultrasound equipment, to obtain histological, bacteriological and biochemical information for diagnosis or treatment of certain diseases, such as vascular diseases or tumors, using minimally invasive techniques. In terms of therapeutic approach, interventional treatment can be divided into two types: vascular and non-vascular interventional techniques. As the name suggests, vascular interventional techniques are those that are performed in the blood vessels, including those in the arterial vessels and venous vessels. Vascular interventional techniques can be used to treat both vascular diseases such as bleeding, stenosis or occlusion, thrombosis, vascular malformation, aneurysm, etc., and oncological diseases, including malignant and benign tumors such as liver cancer, lung cancer, kidney cancer, hepatic hemangioma, uterine fibroids, etc. Non-vascular interventional techniques refer to interventional operations performed in non-vascular lumen of human body, such as esophagus, bile duct, intestinal duct, ureter, urethra, etc. They also include some operations performed through human skin puncture, such as percutaneous puncture biopsy, percutaneous puncture drainage, percutaneous puncture intra-tumor injection therapy, etc.
