Symptoms of congenital nystagmus

The disease is almost bilateral, and the oscillations of the eyes are overwhelmingly conjugate. The salient features of its clinical manifestations are: early onset or onset time cannot be clearly determined, involuntary continuous beating or oscillation of the eyeballs, very few patients have a sense of shaking vision, most patients have varying degrees of visual impairment and cannot be corrected, more patients have the phenomenon of lateral vision and the performance of compensatory head position, some head shaking, and some show compensatory phenomena such as frequent blinking. 1, involuntary continuous regular nystagmus The nystagmus of congenital nystagmus cannot be self-controlled, which is called involuntary. 2.Amblyopia Mostly binocular (except monocular or asymmetric congenital nystagmus), if there is no complication such as strabismus or refractive error, the degree of amblyopia is also similar in both eyes. 3. Vicarious head position Vicarious head position is mainly manifested as left-right deflection of the face. Only a few cases show upward or inward jaw lift, and a few cases may have left and right head tilt. 4. Compensatory frequent transient blinking A few cases may show frequent blinking, and the more attention is paid to the target, the more frequently both eyes blink, both quickly and frequently, which is obviously related to mental tension.
