Nystagmus is categorized into congenital and acquired according to the time of occurrence, and the treatments are different.
1. Treatment for congenital includes refractive correction, trismus and surgery.
(1) Refractive correction: after paralyzing the ciliary muscle for optometry, the refractive error present should be corrected with lenses.
(2) Trigonometry: divided into isotropic and anisotropic trigonometry, trigonometry is placed in the same or opposite direction in both eyes to suppress nystagmus.
(3) Surgery: Surgery improves or eliminates compensatory head position and improves visual acuity, but does not cure nystagmus. Commonly used surgical methods include: Anderson operation, Kestenbaum operation.
2. Treatment of acquired nystagmus: It is necessary to actively treat the primary disease first, and if nystagmus still exists after treatment of the primary disease, surgical treatment should be considered.
It is recommended that patients should go to the hospital when nystagmus occurs, so as to clarify the cause of nystagmus and then proceed with the treatment.
