What are the steps of intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy?

The steps of abdominal perfusion chemotherapy can be divided into doctor-patient communication, locating the puncture point, disinfection and anesthesia, drainage of ascites, and infusion of drugs. 1. Doctor-patient communication: the doctor decides whether or not to perform abdominal perfusion chemotherapy according to the patient’s condition. First of all, the doctor needs to explain the necessity of the treatment and the adverse effects to the patient and his/her family, ask the patient whether he/she is allergic to any medication, and then sign the informed consent form after the patient and his/her family are aware of it. 2. Locating the puncture point: generally, the puncture point is located in the outer third of the line between the left anterior superior iliac spine and the umbilicus. 3. Disinfection and anesthesia: after locating the puncture point, disinfect the puncture point, lay a sterile cavity towel, and administer local anesthesia at the puncture point. 4. Drainage of ascites: Place an abdominal catheter through the puncture point to drain the ascites. 5. Infusion of drugs: The required chemotherapeutic drugs will be drained into the abdominal cavity from the abdominal catheter, and the patient will be instructed to change the position every fifteen minutes, which is conducive to the absorption of the chemotherapeutic drugs.
