Every normal woman has two fallopian tubes and they are located on either side of the base of the uterus, one on the left and one on the right. Normally, the lumen of the fallopian tubes is relatively thin. If one of the tubes is blocked due to inflammation, or due to congenital developmental problems, or due to a history of ectopic pregnancy surgery. As long as the other side of the tube is open, pregnancy will not be affected because the sperm and egg can still unite in the tube to form a fertilized egg. If both fallopian tubes are blocked, it is clinically impossible to conceive naturally. In this case, it is recommended to have a tubal adhesion release surgery, either open or laparoscopic. In any case, after the adhesions are released, the fallopian tubes will be open and there is a chance of natural pregnancy.
