How to give first aid for acute asthma

Acute asthma is usually the result of acute bronchospasm that leads to difficulty in breathing. First, oxygen should be administered, usually by mask oxygen. If the patient has respiratory muscle weakness, a non-invasive ventilator can be used to give synchronized breathing. Second, glucocorticosteroid treatment, usually dexamethasone or methylprednisolone is used for anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic treatment. Third, give bronchodilators, commonly used is aminophylline. Fourth, treatment of the original disease, if the upper respiratory tract infection should be given the application of antibiotics to treat the original disease, if the exposure to allergic substances caused by the period of asthma attack, give intramuscular injection of benadryl anti-allergic treatment.
