The complete recovery time of distal tibial fracture takes at least six months. Further CT and 3D reconstruction are needed to determine the specific type of fracture and the degree of displacement more accurately and to facilitate the determination of the subsequent treatment plan. If there is no significant displacement of the distal tibial fracture, conservative treatment with cast fixation can be chosen. Elevation of the limb during plaster fixation can help reduce swelling and avoid blind weight-bearing on the ground. X-rays of the fracture site are usually reviewed every 2-3 months to determine if the fracture is healing enough to allow weight bearing. If the fracture is significantly displaced, or if there is a step in the joint surface, surgical repositioning and internal fixation treatment should be considered. Postoperative recuperation is also required for several months with regular follow-up review.
