The need for blue light exposure for neonatal jaundice is determined by the level of the value. If the child has jaundice on the first day, greater than 9mg/dL is required for blue light exposure; 2-3 days greater than 12mg/dL requires blue light exposure; 3 days or more if greater than 15mg/dL, blue light exposure is required. The baby should pay attention to protect the eyes and perineum area when taking blue light, the rest of the parts are exposed, the duration of blue light exposure is usually 12-16 hours. During the irradiation period, attention should be paid to riboflavin supplementation and, if necessary, intravenous application of albumin to reduce free bilirubin. If the jaundice is caused by hemolytic jaundice, intravenous application of propylene glycol is required to block hemolysis. If the jaundice value is particularly high, the possibility of bilirubin encephalopathy needs to be alerted and further clarified by MRI if necessary.
