In the past, celiac disease could be treated with vaginal plugs of vaginal effervescent tablets. This was done by washing the vulva and lying on the bed, using your finger to insert the medication along the side wall of the vagina and withdrawing your finger after about 10 cm. The main reason for this is that the cervical columnar epithelium is displaced in young women because of the high estrogen secretion, which is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not need to be treated. After menopause, this displaced columnar epithelium will move back into the cervical canal and the cervix will become smooth again. Therefore, cervical erosion is just a phenomenon and not a disease that needs no treatment.
