Pain in the anus when passing stool may be caused by anal fissure, hemorrhoids, or even perianal abscess, and the exact diagnosis of which condition can be made only when combined with its accompanying symptoms. If the anal pain is cut or torn, accompanied by symptoms such as blood in the stool and constipation, the pain may be caused by anal fissure. If the anal pain is accompanied by prolapsed swelling and blood in the stool, it may be caused by hemorrhoids. In the case of perianal abscess, the pain is around the anus and is accompanied by redness, swelling and burning sensation of the skin around the anus. Anal pain caused by anal fissures and hemorrhoids can be treated by conservative treatment options, while in the case of anal pain caused by perianal abscesses, conservative treatment methods are not ideal and most of them have to undergo surgery for radical treatment.
