Pain in the greater trochanter area of the hand is most commonly associated with two diseases: 1. Carpal tunnel syndrome, commonly seen in manual laborers, such as caseworkers, due to long-term wrist and palm activities can lead to thickening of the transverse carpal ligament, carpal tunnel stenosis and compression of the median nerve, which can cause pain and numbness in the greater trochanter area as well as in the radial side of the three and a half fingers, and can be diagnosed clearly by electromyography.2. It can also be seen in the 1st carpal-metacarpal subluxation, due to injury to the lateral collateral ligaments of the 1st carpal-metacarpal joint. It is common in manual laborers who use their hands, due to the injury of the lateral collateral ligament of the 1st carpometacarpal joint, resulting in subluxation of the joint. Over time, osteoarthritis will form, resulting in pain around the pectus excavatum muscle. X-ray examination is needed to confirm the diagnosis.
