Nucleated red blood cells are naïve red blood cells. Normally, adult peripheral blood does not contain nucleated red blood cells, and nucleated red blood cells are mainly found in the bone marrow. Nucleated red blood cells 0.2%, if the newborn is a normal physiological phenomenon, not serious; if the adult, it is common in some types of anemia, leukemia and malignant tumors and other diseases, it is more serious.
1. Physiological phenomenon: under normal circumstances, a small amount can appear in the peripheral blood of newborns within one week, which is a normal physiological phenomenon, and then gradually disappear.
2. Pathological phenomenon: Nucleated red blood cells appearing in the peripheral blood of adults is a pathological phenomenon. Common causes include hemolytic anemia, hemorrhagic anemia, primary myelofibrosis, certain malignant tumors and chronic lung diseases, etc. Therefore, it is usually serious and needs to be combined with routine blood and bone marrow examination to identify the cause.
If nucleated erythrocytes are present in the peripheral blood of adult patients, prompt medical attention and aggressive treatment are recommended.
