The main reason for looking at anemia in children’s blood work is the hemoglobin in it, and the value of hemoglobin varies from age to age. In the neonatal period, anemia is diagnosed if the hemoglobin is less than 145 g/L. At 1-4 months of age, anemia is diagnosed if the hemoglobin is less than 90 g/L. Anemia was diagnosed if hemoglobin was less than 100g/L at 4-6 months of age. If hemoglobin is less than 110g/L at 0.5-5 years, the diagnosis is anemia. If hemoglobin is less than 115g/L at 5-11 years of age, the diagnosis is anemia. If hemoglobin is less than 120g/L at the age of 12-14 years, the diagnosis is anemia. So the hemoglobin varies from age to age and the value for diagnosing anemia is also different.
