Postoperative care of the cervical spine

Nursing care after cervical spine surgery includes the following: first, the spine must be kept as a whole during transportation, and localized bending and twisting are not allowed; meanwhile, attention should be paid to the fact that the drainage tube should not be tugged after the operation, and the cervical spine should be protected by wearing a good cervical brace. Second, early postoperative observation of vital signs, such as fever, prevention of decubitus ulcers, observation of urination, timely treatment of urinary retention, regular bladder irrigation to prevent urinary tract infection. Third, encourage the patient to cough up sputum and assist in turning over and knocking on the back to prevent pulmonary atony and respiratory tract infections, and at the same time, nutrition should be strengthened in the postoperative period to prevent hypoproteinemia and anemia. Fourth, postoperative assistance to the patient to carry out functional exercise, to prevent muscle atrophy of the limbs, and to prevent postural hypotension caused by prolonged bed rest.
