What is the pain inside the lower eyelid?

If the lower eyelid is painful and the skin is red and swollen, especially if the pain is obvious when pressing or blinking on the swollen area, consider inflammation of the lid gland caused by a bacterial infection. Most of these infections are probably due to Staphylococcus aureus, which causes purulent inflammation of the lid gland, and may be related to improper eye hygiene or a decrease in body resistance due to recent fatigue, late nights, or heavy drinking. This bacterial infection still needs to be treated with antibacterial drugs, usually levofloxacin or tobramycin eye drops for anti-inflammatory treatment. If the symptoms are heavy, you can also take oral antibiotic treatment, such as cephalosporin or erythromycin, amoxicillin and other combined systemic medication, which can shorten the course of redness and pain.
