The process of placing a urinary catheter in men includes choosing the catheter model, positioning, cleaning, disinfecting, inserting the catheter, connecting the urine bag, and organizing the items. 1. Choosing catheter model: male urethra can choose 14~20Fr catheter according to the condition. 2. Positioning: the buttock pad can be placed on the hospital bed, pants removed, and the patient’s hands clasped knees slightly apart. 3. Cleaning: the perineum needs to be sterilized to ensure asepsis. In order, use iodine cotton balls to disinfect the pubic mound, the left inner 1/3 of the thigh to the midline of the penis, the right thigh and scrotum symmetrical parts, the left scrotum to the dorsal penis, the right scrotum and the corresponding parts of the penis, the urethral orifice, glans, and coronal urethral groove. 4. Disinfection: wear gloves and then lay a hole towel, disinfect the urethral opening to the coronal groove twice, and disinfect the urethral opening again. 5. Insert the catheter: Use a cotton ball moistened with paraffin oil to moisten the catheter. Lift the penis to a 90° angle to the perineum, insert the catheter 20~22cm, and continue to insert 4~6cm after urine outflow. 5ml of water should be injected into the bladder, and the catheter should be pulled outward slowly to make sure it is in place. Connect the urine collection bag. 6. Organize the items: Remove the hole towel, put on the label, and hang the urine collection bag in a position lower than the bladder. It is recommended that patients who need to insert a urinary catheter actively cooperate with the doctor’s operation, do not pull the urinary catheter arbitrarily, and promptly inform the medical staff of any discomfort.
