May 1, 2021 is the 23rd World Asthma Day. Bronchial asthma is a common respiratory disease that endangers human health and has become the second most deadly disease in the world after cancer. In the past 20 years, the incidence of asthma has increased significantly around the world, with more than 300 million people suffering from asthma worldwide and at least 20 million in China. Asthma is also a very stubborn chronic disease that often recurs many times, affecting their growth and development in childhood and causing delays in learning; in adults asthma can seriously affect their ability to work and reduce their quality of life. Asthma places a very heavy burden on individuals, families and society as a whole, and has become a worldwide medical problem of universal concern. One of the causes of asthma is a family history, if the patient’s close relatives have allergic diseases, they are more likely to get asthma; if the patient has allergic rhinitis and has allergic skin disease, then the chance of getting asthma will also be greatly increased. The second is accidental exposure to allergic triggers, such as dust mites, mold, pollen, animal fur, etc. Non-allergic triggers include exercise, viral infections, cold air, air pollution, and second-hand smoke. Third, exposure to certain special chemicals at work. When an allergen enters the body for the first time, the allergen is engulfed by phagocytes to produce antibodies, and when the same allergen enters the body for the second time, it will combine with antibodies to release histamine substances to cause allergic asthma. Asthma sometimes manifests itself as difficulty in breathing and sometimes as recurrent coughing. Experts remind that asthma in children should not be taken too lightly and parents should always pay attention to their children. If a child coughs incessantly for a long time or has a severe cough at night, or if you can hear a pulling sound in the lungs when you lean over the child, you should consider that it may be allergic asthma and you need to go to the hospital for regular treatment. Asthma is a benign disease, we should go to the hospital as soon as possible to confirm the diagnosis, early to be treated, the symptoms can be effectively eliminated in a timely manner, asthma patients and we can take off the mask, in the bright sunshine free breathing. Asthma patients need to exercise properly, otherwise the immunity of the body will be low, triggering or even aggravating asthma. Before the various symptoms of asthma are effectively controlled, try not to overdo it; asthma patients are suitable for gentle exercise, such as jogging, tai chi and other slow-paced exercises, and to stick to them. Many people believe that bronchial asthma exacerbations are caused by bacterial infections such as Staphylococcus aureus and abuse antibacterial drugs at will; they intend to use antibacterial drugs to prevent asthma attacks. This is seriously wrong. Antibacterial drugs can only kill or inhibit bacteria, not relieve the bronchospasm state. Moreover, bronchial asthma is different from chronic bronchitis in that chronic bronchitis can return to the normal size of the airway lumen after the irritation factor subsides, while prolonged bronchial asthma will cause irreversible narrowing of the lumen and therefore the condition will get worse. Finally, patient compliance is a key factor in determining the outcome of asthma. Improving compliance has a much greater impact on the prognosis of asthma than changing a specific treatment.
