How to treat myocardial bridges in the heart

Most myocardial bridges of the heart do not require special treatment. When symptoms of myocardial bridges of the heart occur, patients can be considered for beta-blockers such as metoprolol and bisoprolol, or drugs that reduce myocardial contractility such as calcium antagonists, which can relieve the patient’s symptoms. However, it is not advocated to give patients stenting for myocardial bridges, and some cases of recurrence can occur during surgical treatment of coronary myocardial bridges. The use of nitrates and dopamines should be avoided in the presence of myocardial bridges, as they may aggravate the patient’s symptoms. In severe cases, coronary artery myocardial bridges can produce distal myocardial ischemia, which can be clinically similar to angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, so we should not ignore myocardial bridges.
