There is a difference between a bare stent and a coated stent, which has a covering on its surface.
Bare stents are mostly metal stents, which are metal frameworks in a mesh-like structure, and can be used for the treatment of narrowing of the lumen, such as coronary artery disease. Bare stents are able to support the narrowed area, improve the localized narrowing of blood vessels, and increase the blood supply to the arterial vessels.
Coated stents are similar to bare stents in their basic structure, with a membrane-like structure on the internal surface of the metal stent. They are mostly used for the treatment of ruptured blood vessels, aneurysms and other diseases, and are able to reduce the impact of intra-arterial blood flow on the diseased areas of blood vessels to avoid serious rupture of blood vessels.
Bare stents and coated stents have different clinical uses, and patients with related diseases should choose the appropriate stent treatment under the guidance of physicians.
