Tonsil stones do not usually fall out on their own. Smaller tonsil stones can be removed by a doctor. Larger tonsil stones are usually treated with surgery. 1. Smaller stones: They can be extracted directly with the help of a spatula or pliers under a laryngoscope, or sucked out with a negative pressure drain. 2. Larger stones: they can irritate the pharynx, causing discomfort such as foreign body sensation in the pharynx, pharyngeal pain and bad breath. If there is inflammation around the stone, you can use antibacterial drugs containing chlorhexidine and hydrogen peroxide for local anti-inflammatory. If there is no inflamed infection, surgery can be performed. Surgery may involve cutting open the tonsils and removing the stones. If the stones are difficult to remove, or if they are recurrent, the tonsils will need to be removed. If tonsil stones are detected, they should be diagnosed in a timely manner so that a targeted treatment plan can be developed.
