What to do about occipital lobe epilepsy

Patients with occipital lobe seizures may exhibit focal convulsions of the contralateral limb, or some patients may become epileptic in a continuous state. Based on the EEG monitoring results, if the seizure is focal, the drug of choice can be carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine. If the seizure wave is persistent, the treatment can choose sodium valproate for oral administration, and the patient’s symptoms can be relieved. Some patients with occipital lobe epilepsy also show visual deformation, because the occipital lobe is the visual center, patients will have visual deformation, this time visual deformation should also be considered as epilepsy. Depending on the EEG results, carbamazepine or sodium valproate can be chosen. Therefore, for occipital lobe epilepsy, the choice of medication is mainly based on the EEG results.
