Bloating in the stomach that prevents urination is commonly seen in patients with acute urinary retention. Acute urinary retention often indicates the presence of urinary tract obstruction, which causes difficulty in urination and makes the bladder excessively distended, so that the lower abdomen is distended and painful, and can cause the inability to urinate. In this case, urgent treatment is needed, and the method of treatment is to open the urinary drainage to relieve the distension and pain, and to avoid causing vesicoureteral reflux, which can lead to hydronephrosis. For patients, indwelling catheters can be tried, and if they can be indwelling, they can successfully relieve the symptoms of bladder outlet obstruction of lower abdominal distension and pain. If there is severe urethral stricture that causes failure of indwelling catheter, suprapubic cystostomy can also be performed to drain urine to relieve symptoms.
