Examination of renal cysts

Because there are no more obvious symptoms of kidney cyst, its diagnosis mainly relies on imaging examination, specific examination items are as follows: 1. urine examination: general urine routine examination is normal, if the cyst presses the kidney parenchyma or combined with intracapsular infection, a small amount of red cells or white cells may appear in the urine; 2. ultrasound: can understand the number of cysts, size and the situation of the cyst wall, and can be distinguished from the kidney substantial mass It is the preferred method of kidney cyst examination. Typical ultrasound shows no echogenicity in the lesion area, and generally the cyst wall is smooth with clear boundary. When the cyst wall shows irregular echogenicity or limited thickening, the possibility of malignant transformation should be alerted. In case of secondary infection, the cyst wall may thicken and the lesion area may have fine echogenicity. When there is bleeding within the cyst, the echogenicity will be enhanced. When ultrasound suggests multiple cysts, it should be differentiated from multifocal cysts or polycystic kidneys; 3. Intravenous pyelogram: it can show the degree of cyst compression on renal parenchyma and differentiate from hydronephrosis; 4. CT examination: for those who cannot be diagnosed by ultrasound, further CT examination can be performed.
