Whether or not it hurts one month after HPV vaccination varies greatly among individuals. Some people will have persistent pain even though the acute phase of inflammation has passed, mainly because each person has a different immune response to the HPV vaccine solute and the vaccine in it, and the degree of inflammatory response and infiltration of inflammatory cells that occurs, so the pain is felt differently, but most people will experience significant relief within a few weeks. If the pain is severe, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or diclofenac sodium may be used for pain relief. If the pain is accompanied by edema, abortifacient or other medications may also be used to reduce the symptoms of edema.
