How to check blood type

To check your blood type, you can go to the hospital and have venous or peripheral blood drawn to determine your blood type. Blood type refers to the type of antigens on the surface of blood components, mainly including red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. The general blood type refers to the type of specific antigen on the red blood cell membrane. ABO blood type can be categorized into A, B, O, AB, and Rh blood types. The blood type test mainly utilizes the principle of antigen-antibody reaction. If the blood of the test participant agglutinates with the serum of anti-A antibody and fails to agglutinate with the serum of anti-B antibody, the blood type is A. Conversely, if the blood of the test participates only with the serum of anti-B antibody, the blood type is A. On the other hand, if the test results in agglutination with anti-B antibody serum only, the blood type is B. The blood type is B if the test results in agglutination with both anti-A and anti-B antibodies. If agglutination occurs with both anti-A and anti-B antibodies, the blood type is AB, and if it fails to agglutinate with both anti-A and anti-B antibodies, the blood type is O. Tests for Rh include the saline agglutination test, and the colloidal media method. If you want to clarify your blood type, you can go to the laboratory of your hospital and have your blood type tested.
