Low blood pressure, also known as diastolic blood pressure, is not normal if it is 58 mmHg. In adults, the normal range of diastolic blood pressure should be 60-89 mmHg when measured at rest, but the most ideal diastolic range for the elderly is greater than 65 mmHg, and less than 80 mmHg is relatively the most standard and ideal. If a patient’s diastolic blood pressure is too low, it will affect cerebral perfusion and myocardial perfusion, and some patients may experience chest tightness and dizziness, which are uncomfortable conditions. If the diastolic blood pressure is 58 mmHg, it is advisable to reduce the dose of antihypertensive drugs and to do ambulatory blood pressure monitoring if necessary to assess the overall blood pressure over 24 hours.
