Swiss researchers have recently developed a new flexible electronic implant device, e-Dura, which can stimulate the spinal cord without damaging nerve tissue, allowing people with disabilities to return to the ground! The technology has been successfully tested on rats, and scientists believe that in the future it will be able to treat not only spinal cord injuries, but also chronic pain, epilepsy and Parkinson’s. We have recently used spinal cord electrical stimulation to successfully treat patients with spinal cord injuries, which has helped with gait, sensory function, circulation in the lower extremities, and has also been found to help patients with sexual function.
