Why is it necessary to take a comprehensive film for wisdom tooth extraction?

Wisdom tooth extraction with a full radiograph is generally referred to as a full mouth surface radiograph, also known as a panoramic radiograph, that is recommended by the extracting dentist before the wisdom tooth is removed. This is necessary because it is essential to have imaging support for wisdom tooth extraction. This film will show the exact location of the wisdom tooth to be extracted, the depth of imbedding, and the relationship with the adjacent teeth and the inferior alveolar nerve vessels. Sometimes the application of a small dental film with a small field of view does not allow for a relatively adequate visualization of the location. Also, because wisdom teeth are located at the very back of the tooth row, some patients have no way to take a small slice because the pharyngeal reflex is particularly obvious. Because full-mouth surface radiography allows you to see not only all the wisdom teeth that need to be removed, but also all the teeth of the entire mouth and, of course, the contralateral wisdom teeth, it is a highly recommended clinical imaging test before wisdom teeth removal.
