Abstract: The patient presented with a right breast lump, which was hard and pushable in texture, along with breast effusion. The examination results suggested breast cancer, which might be related to the patient’s poor daily eating habits. After systematic surgical treatment and medication, the patient’s symptoms were relieved and her condition stabilized, and the treatment result was more satisfactory and the prognosis was better.
Basic information】Female, 56 years old
Disease Type】Breast Cancer
Hospital】Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital
Date of consultation】April 2022
Treatment plan】Surgical treatment (right breast lump excision, right axillary anterior lymph node biopsy) + intravenous drugs (doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome injection, cyclophosphamide for injection)
Treatment period】Hospitalization for 15 days, review after 3 months, regular chemotherapy
Treatment effect] The breast lumps disappeared after treatment, and the condition was stable
I. Initial interview
When we first saw the patient, she had a healthy face and was in good spirits, but her expression was slightly sad. She said that she suddenly found a lump similar to an egg yolk in her right breast when she was taking a bath, which was relatively hard and could be pushed. After examination, the patient found that a mass could be palpated in the right outer lower quadrant with hard texture, still movable and without obvious tenderness, and suspected the presence of breast malignancy. After admission, the patient underwent head + chest CT and mammogram examinations. The CT findings indicated that there was no significant abnormality in the head and a right breast nodule, and the mammogram findings indicated bilateral heterogeneous dense mammary glands and an occupancy in the right lower quadrant of the breast.
II. Treatment history
I informed the patient of the diagnosis of breast cancer and reassured the patient that breast cancer could be treated by surgery and chemotherapy, so that the patient would not worry so much. Afterwards, the patient agreed to undergo surgical resection and signed an informed consent form. The pathological results showed ductal carcinoma in situ and regional hypercoagulable invasive carcinoma, while the lymph node biopsy results indicated no carcinoma was seen. After the patient recovered from surgery, chemotherapy was administered to the patient without contraindication to chemotherapy, and the drugs used included doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome injection and cyclophosphamide for injection.
III. Treatment effect
After surgery combined with chemotherapy, the patient’s breast lump disappeared and her health gradually recovered. The patient was admitted to the hospital for right breast lump excision, and the surgery went smoothly and the wound healed well after surgery. 14 days after hospitalization, the patient’s physical condition was more stable and chemotherapy could be given, and after no obvious toxic side effects during chemotherapy, the patient was discharged home to recuperate. 3 months later, the patient came to the hospital for a follow-up examination and reported no obvious discomfort, diet and mental health, normal urination and defecation, and no recurrence or metastasis after ultrasound examination.
IV. Notes
I was very happy to see that the patient gradually recovered after systematic treatment. At the same time, the patient was also advised to pay attention to the following conditions.
1, patients should pay attention to appropriate physical exercise in daily life, including walking and tai chi, which can help improve their resistance and help their recovery, but need to avoid excessive exercise to avoid stimulating wound tearing.
2, patients should try to avoid weight-bearing within 1 month after surgery, and also pay attention to sleeping position to avoid pressure on the right limb, thus aggravating the discomfort symptoms.
3. Patients should also pay attention to avoid overeating in terms of diet and eat light and easily digestible food, which can help to supplement nutrition and control weight. In addition, the occurrence of breast cancer is also related to high hormone levels, therefore, daily attention should be paid to not eating foods with high hormone levels, such as soy products, etc.
4. Patients should also have regular review after discharge from the hospital. It is recommended to review every 3 months within 2 years after surgery, every 6 months from 3 to 5 years after surgery, and every year after 5 years after surgery.
V. Personal insight
Breast cancer is a relatively common malignant tumor in women. When you suspect the existence of breast cancer, it is recommended to actively seek medical consultation, which you can learn from Auntie Gao in this case. Because the tumor was detected early and the treatment was timely, Auntie Gao had a satisfactory result and a relatively good prognosis after the surgery and chemotherapy treatment. In addition, for people suffering from breast cancer, they should maintain a positive and optimistic attitude and build up confidence to overcome the disease, which is also beneficial to their recovery.
