Abstract: The patient suddenly found a lump in her left breast, which was painless to touch and had no symptoms of skin redness, and the examination results suggested breast cancer. It may be related to the patient’s poor mood and poor diet. After surgical treatment combined with chemotherapy, the patient’s condition was stabilized and the breast lump was removed, and the treatment result was more satisfactory.
Basic information】Female, 55 years old
Disease Type】Breast Cancer
Hospital】Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital
Date of consultation】March 2021
Treatment plan】Surgical treatment (modified radical left breast cancer, left breast mass excision, left axillary anterior lymph node biopsy) + intravenous injection (doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome injection, cyclophosphamide for injection)
[Treatment period] 1 week hospitalization, 8 cycles of chemotherapy
Treatment effect] The patient’s breast mass was removed and her condition was stable.
I. Initial consultation
When we first saw the patient, the patient was in poor mental condition and moved freely. The patient reported that one week ago, she suddenly found a lump in her left breast while taking a bath. The patient was asked about the patient’s mood in the past six months due to a change in her family and her habit of smoking. After admission, the patient underwent mammography, which revealed a bilateral heterogeneous dense breast and a left upper outer quadrant occupancy, and MRI, which revealed an irregular mass in the left upper outer quadrant with centripetal enhancement and limited diffusion.
II. Treatment
After the patient signed the informed consent form, the patient underwent excision of the left breast mass and biopsy of the left axillary sentinel lymph node under general anesthesia, as well as excision of the whole breast tissue, pectoralis major muscle fascia and removal of axillary lymph nodes for modified radical treatment of left breast cancer. After surgery, the surgical wound was changed regularly, and the patient was discharged after 1 week of hospitalization in stable condition. The postoperative pathological results indicated reactive hyperplasia of left axillary anterior lymph nodes and infiltrative carcinoma of left breast mass. To consolidate the treatment, I formulated chemotherapy for the patient, applying doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome injection and cyclophosphamide for injection for 8 cycles.
III. Treatment effect
After the patient underwent surgical treatment combined with chemotherapy, the breast lump was removed and the disease control was relatively stable. After 1 week of hospitalization, the patient recovered relatively well, and there was no infection in the surgical wound, and her mental status was fair, so she was allowed to be discharged. However, regular chemotherapy was required. After 8 cycles of chemotherapy, the patient was examined for left breast agenesis, the left chest wall was said to have changed after the modified surgery, no nodules were found, the right breast had normal morphology and no nipple overflow, suggesting a relatively good prognosis.
IV. Notes
Seeing that the patient’s condition improved after surgical resection treatment combined with chemotherapy and her mental state was better, I felt happy for her from the bottom of my heart, but also suggested that the patient should pay attention to the following points.
1, the patient needs to pay attention to the wound care after discharge, observe whether there is bleeding, pus accumulation, infection, etc., and pay attention to regular drug changes, and also follow the doctor’s orders for regular chemotherapy.
2, the patient in the wound after the basic healing appropriate exercise, especially the affected upper limbs, to avoid the fear of pain and reluctance to exercise, resulting in the recovery of the body is affected, and may even lead to activity restrictions.
3, patients in the diet should avoid overeating, can properly eat some nutritious and easy to digest food, including fresh meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, etc., to help the recovery, try to avoid eating high-fat, high-sugar food, such as cake, fatty meat, etc..
4. Patients also need to have regular review, which is recommended every 3 months for 2 years after surgery, every 6 months for 3-5 years after surgery, and every year for 5 years after surgery, which can help to clarify the development trend of the disease.
V. Personal insight
Breast cancer is a relatively common malignant tumor in women, usually caused by abnormal hormone levels in the body, and may also be related to mental state and bad habits, for example, 55-year-old Auntie Wang’s prolonged emotional depression and the presence of bad habits lead to breast cancer. For those who suffer from breast cancer, they should actively seek medical treatment because early detection, diagnosis and treatment can even lead to clinical cure of the disease, but if the disease is delayed, it may also affect the quality of survival and survival time of such people.
