What is the treatment for refractory migraine

Migraine is a common condition, with a prevalence of 7.7-18.7% reported in the literature. The vast majority of patients can be relieved by medication, but there are still a few cases that cannot be controlled by medication and become refractory to medical treatment, which is ineffective and gradually worsens over time, affecting life and work. These patients can be controlled or cured by neurosurgical treatment. Migraine is the most common vascular headache, the pathogenesis of which is not completely clear so far, there are theories of vascular origin, neurogenic theory, trigeminal nerve vascular reflex theory and local vascular nerve compression. It suggests that compression or pulsatile irritation of abnormal vessels is associated with most refractory migraines. It has been reported that the treatment of migraine by microsurgery technique is minimally invasive, safe and effective, and is an alternative treatment for patients with refractory migraine who have persistent and severe symptoms.
