Causes of shingles

Shingles, is caused by varicella-zoster virus infection. When the body’s immunity is lowered, the latent virus is activated and replicates in large numbers, possibly causing shingles. Initial infection with the varicella-zoster virus can cause chickenpox or a latent infection. After the virus enters the body, it can become latent in the posterior ganglia of the spinal cord. Influenced by various infections, medications, trauma, overwork, stress, and pathological factors, leading to decreased immunity, the virus multiplies and moves along the peripheral nerve fibers to the skin, where it can develop into herpes zoster. Herpes zoster is mainly distributed unilaterally in bands, and can cause rashes, swollen lymph nodes, and pain. The appearance of blisters on the skin with neuralgia, it is recommended to go to the dermatology department of the hospital in a timely manner, and follow the doctor’s advice to treat as early as possible.
