The survival period of brainstem glioma depends on its grade, the higher the grade, the shorter the survival period, about 14.6 months to 10 years, the exact time and varies from person to person. Brainstem glioma is a malignant tumor, mainly related to genetic mutations and ionizing radiation, and can be classified into WHO grade 1~4. Low-grade gliomas (WHO grades 1 and 2) are low-grade gliomas and usually have a better prognosis, with a median survival period (the number of years of survival in general) of about 8 to 10 years; mesenchymal gliomas (WHO grade 3) have a median survival period of about 3 to 4 years, and glioblastomas (WHO grade 4) have a poorer prognosis, with a shorter survival period, and a median survival period of about 14.6 to 17 months. Surgical resection is the main treatment, in addition to this, radiation therapy and chemotherapy can be adjuvant in case of clear pathology of the tumor, after treatment, the survival of both low grade and high grade is significantly improved. It is recommended that patients suffering from brainstem glioma should seek timely medical treatment to avoid delays and serious consequences.
