Pathological examination of the uterine cervix takes several days

Cervical pathological examination is usually performed after a cervical biopsy or cervical laminectomy, and the tissue is sent to the pathology department for examination to determine the specific type of cervical lesion. Due to the need to fix the tissue and the need for complex operations such as cell staining, the cervical pathology examination takes a long time, usually about 7 days, and if the cervical pathology tissue is expedited, it takes about 48 hours for the results to be available. If the cervical tissues obtained are not typical enough, or the amount of cervical tissues obtained is not enough, or the cervical tissues are excessively squeezed and deformed, the pathology department cannot make an accurate pathological diagnosis, and further immunohistochemical examination is needed to obtain a definitive pathological result, which usually takes 2-5 days.
