Symptomatic headaches are difficult to self-resolve if the cause is not removed. Primary headaches, which may occur in one attack, can resolve spontaneously without treatment, but some patients with frequent, prolonged attacks have difficulty resolving them. After a certain age, such as after menopause in women, some patients can stop having attacks. Symptomatic headaches, including those with mild anxiety or significant mental stimulation, are likely to be self-resolving for a short period of time, while patients with anxiety and depression are difficult to resolve without anti-anxiety and depression treatment.
