What is an intravertebral density shadow?

Intravertebral density shadow may be caused by peri-spinal muscle injury, fasciitis, lumbar disc herniation, occupying lesions and other factors.
1. Muscle injury around the spinal canal: Excessive bending activities or external violent impact will lead to injury of soft tissues such as muscles around the spinal canal, resulting in hyperplasia, edema, calcification and other reactions, which will cause density shadows in the spinal canal.
2. Fasciitis: in the case of excessive fatigue or local cold, it will lead to aseptic inflammation of the fascia around the vertebral canal, and the repeated inflammatory stimulation in the body will cause increased density shadow of the tissue.
3. Lumbar disc herniation: after the lumbar disc undergoes degenerative changes such as hyperplasia and calcification, it will affect the surrounding nerves, blood vessels, muscles and other structures, and the spinal canal will show density shadows in the imaging examination.
4. Occupying lesions: Occupying lesions such as tumors or cysts in the vertebral body will increase the volume of the spinal canal and compress the surrounding tissues, causing numbness, pain and other uncomfortable symptoms. At the same time, an intravertebral density shadow may appear during the examination.
Intravertebral density shadow can be caused by a variety of factors, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for a comprehensive examination, a clear diagnosis and standardized treatment.
