The proper treatment for medial collateral ligament injuries includes the administration of cold packs, bandages, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, splinting or cast immobilization, and ligament reconstruction.
Medial collateral ligament injury can be given the following treatments according to the degree of ligament injury:
1. Partial ligament injury: Immediately after the injury, ethylene chloride or ice packs should be used to give local cold compresses and pressure bandages, while the injured limb should be elevated to reduce bleeding and swelling. For those with pain, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib and diclofenac can be given to reduce inflammation and relieve pain as prescribed by the doctor. For more serious cases, splints and plaster can be used to stabilize the joint and create a good environment for ligament repair.
2. Complete ligament rupture: Early ligament reconstruction should be done to restore the integrity and continuity of the ligament as early as possible.
Different degrees of damage to the medial collateral ligament will lead to different treatment methods, and standardized treatment should be carried out under the guidance of doctors.
