Fasting blood sugar of 5.0mmol/L is not considered high.
The normal range of fasting blood glucose during pregnancy should be less than 5.1mmol/L, so fasting blood glucose 5.0mmol/L is not high. If there is a suspicion of high blood sugar or symptoms of gestational diabetes, you can also improve the oral glucose tolerance test to observe whether the blood sugar after meals is abnormal.
Gestational diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed if there is no diabetes mellitus before pregnancy, and the fasting blood glucose is ≥5.1mmol/L during pregnancy, or the blood glucose is ≥10mmol/L in 1 hour and ≥8.5mmol/L in 2 hours after 75g of glucose intake, and one of the above mentioned items is reached.
