UTIs do not cause vomiting symptoms. UTIs only cause localized urethral symptoms, including frequent urination, urgency, painful urination and increased urethral discharge, and some patients may see redness and swelling of the urethral opening. Because UTIs are lower urinary tract infections, the infection does not lead to gastrointestinal-related inflammatory reactions, so it does not cause nausea or vomiting symptoms. Unless the UTI is combined with an infection of the upper urinary tract, such as pyelonephritis or a perinephric abscess, then abdominal distension or nausea and vomiting may occur. If the diagnosis is simple urethritis, the nausea and vomiting symptoms are not related to the urethritis. It is recommended that the patient go to the gastroenterology department for relevant examinations to clarify the cause of vomiting.
