The term interventional radiotherapy was first introduced by Margulis in 1967, and is a marginalized discipline that developed rapidly after the 1970s. Interventional radiology is a technique to diagnose and treat diseases under the guidance of imaging equipment, based on diagnostic imaging and clinical diagnostics, combined with the principles of clinical therapeutics. It includes two basic contents: 1) non-surgical treatment of some diseases under imaging surveillance based on diagnostic imaging and using catheters and other techniques; 2) obtaining histological, bacteriological, physiological and biochemical data under imaging surveillance using percutaneous puncture, catheters and other techniques to clarify the nature of the lesion.
