If no tumor recurrence is found 2 years after total resection of gastric cancer, the possibility of recurrence decreases significantly after 2 years. After resection of gastric cancer, regular review in oncology department is needed, including blood routine, liver and kidney function, abdominal ultrasound, abdominal CT, chest X-ray, gastroscopy and other examinations to clarify whether there is tumor recurrence or metastasis. Once tumor recurrence is found, timely treatment is needed. The survival period of gastric cancer is related to factors such as the stage of gastric cancer, tissue typing, biological behavior and treatment, for example, the 5-year survival rate of stage I gastric cancer can reach about 80%, while the 5-year survival rate of advanced gastric cancer is only about 2%-13%. In addition, the chance of recurrence of gastric cancer within 2 years after surgery is high. If no recurrence or metastasis of gastric cancer occurs within 2 years after surgery, the chance of recurrence after 2 years will be greatly reduced. In addition to regular review after gastric cancer surgery, maintaining an optimistic attitude, reasonable diet and proper physical exercise can help improve prognosis and prolong life expectancy.
