What is IAA?

IAA does not usually refer to the hormone, but is short for insulin autoantibodies, which are autoimmune antibodies and are one of the markers of type 1 diabetes. Insulin autoantibodies (IAA) are a class of autoimmune antibodies produced by the body against its own pancreatic islet β-cells, and are one of the markers of type 1 diabetes, which can be found in both the subclinical and clinical phases of type 1 diabetes. The correlation between IAA and the patient’s age is large, with a relatively high positive rate of detection in children, and a much lower rate in adult patients. In addition, islet-associated autoantibodies commonly used in clinical practice include islet cell autoantibodies (ICA). Consult your doctor for more information.
