Multiple solid subpleural nodules may become cancerous. Bacterial or viral infections can easily occur in the pleura, and inflammatory nodules can easily appear, which are mostly benign with clear boundaries, slow growth rate, and regular internal echogenicity. Most of them are benign. Subpleural nodules may also have malignant transformation, especially when the nodules show glassy changes, and when there are blood vessels penetrating in the middle of the glassy nodules, it is necessary to be alert to the presence of early invasive adenocarcinoma. When subpleural nodule is found, the nature of the nodule should be evaluated firstly. If the diameter of the subpleural nodule is larger than one centimeter or has the tendency of malignant transformation, it needs to be surgically excised and pathologically examined. When subpleural nodules are detected by CT examination, they can be seen in the thoracic surgery department of a regular hospital.
