Diabetes causes blindness

Fundopathy is one of the common complications of diabetes mellitus, which can lead to blindness and blurred vision in severe cases. It is necessary to go to the hospital to further do fundus fluorescence imaging examination and eye ultrasound examination to make clear whether there is fundopathy or not, in addition to cataract and other ocular diseases that can also lead to blurred vision, and it is necessary to make clear the cause of the disease and target the treatment. If fundopathy exists, it should be clearly staged. Fundopathy is currently divided into VI stages, with microangiomas and small hemorrhages in stage I; hard exudation in stage II; soft exudation like cotton wool in stage III; neovascularization and vitreous hemorrhage in stage IV; fibrovascular proliferation and vitreous mechanization in stage V; and blindness caused by retinal detachment in stage VI. When fundopathy occurs, first of all, we should control the blood sugar to reach the standard, and secondly, we can take calcium hydroxybenzenesulfonate, and blood brightening tablets for treatment, if further aggravation, we should consider photocoagulation and glass excision surgery, laser treatment and so on.
