The female urinary system includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.
1. Kidneys: The function of female kidneys is mainly to excrete wastes ingested from outside the body or produced by metabolism, and to maintain the stability of the internal environment, and an important part of accomplishing this series of functions is the filtration effect of glomeruli.
2. Ureter: It is a muscular tube that connects the kidney to the bladder. It is a tubular structure made up of muscle and mucous membrane and is responsible for transporting urine to the bladder.
3. Bladder: The main function of the bladder in women is to store urine. The urinary reflex occurs when the bladder volume is around 200ml to 300ml.
4. Urethra: The urethra is the tube through which urine passes out of the bladder. Female urethra is located behind the symphysis pubis, in front of the vagina, starting from the bladder neck urethral opening, downward and forward, ending at the external urethral opening of the vaginal vestibule.
